Competition is supposed to help people do better and Frank Gashumba is all for this saying. When two parties are opposing each other, they are expected to earnestly work hard in order to out compete each other, making the livelihood of citizens better.
However, some political parties instead choose violence to solve political issues which would have been well resolved logically. Frank Gashumba has come out to poke jabs at Political camps that are at war with each other, telling them to stay on track when it comes to politics instead of always being engulfed in political war fare with each other.
In his speech, he strongly stated that The National Unity Platform is rather misguided due to different acts of violence and hooliganism they always get entangled into.
On this matter, he called out the NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine, labeling him as “the greatest comedian in Uganda’s political history” when it comes to political affairs. Frank Gashumba went ahead to accuse Bobi Wine of prioritizing theatrics over serious leadership. He made this statement basing on the recent happenings at the burial ceremony of the late Kawempe North Member of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya.
According to Frank Gashumba, there was no need for violence and what he termed as drama when the burial of a colleague was involved. He stated that Bobi Wine should have been the bigger person and urged his foot soldiers to respect such a ceremony.
Frank Gashumba therefore made a public plea, asking political rivals to embrace unity and civilization rather than practicing barbaric and arcaic acts. Frank was quick to state that all these acts of hooliganism should not even be happening in the central region which is most popular for good manners and civilization.
He further stated that it was unbecoming for the grieving mother and brother to be excluded from the burial of their own relative as the political party took over the rites. According to him, this was the worst case of heartlessness and disrespect.
"The burial should have been managed by the family. Locking out his own mother and brother was a violation of our traditions. It simply does not make sense for a burial to happen without the grieving family," he said in an interview with Sanyuka TV.
Frank further stated that the opposition should strive to eradicate war and handle politics with peace and unity because politics is not war but a battle of ideologies.
