In a move to improve service delivery to the public, government is set to increase salaries for top scientists and doctors.
While addressing the media at Uganda Media Centre, ICT minister Chris Baryomunsi stated that these are some of the frontline workers in the fight for Covid-19 and the increment in their salaries is deserved.
Among the categories of people whose salaries are to be increased are senior doctors, these are to recieve shs.5m, senior medical lecturers, these are to recieve shs.4m, engineers and veterinary lecturers/teachers are to also recieve salry increament.
This comes at a time when medics have been holding sit down strikes because of little payment, some claiming they've never received their allowances. Let's hope this will help calm the situation.
