Last season's champions Manchester City began their Premier League title defence on a high when they beat newly promoted side Burnley 3-0 on Friday evening at TurfMor.
Erling Haaland opened the score after just 4minutes of the game and later scored a screamer in the 36th minute of the game.
The Citizens however suffered a blow before first half came to a close when their most important player and captain Kevin De Bruyne limped off having played only 22minutes of the first half and was replaced by newly signed Croatian Mateo Kavacic.
While talking to the press at the end of the match, Man City coach Guardiola confirmed that the 32year old Belgian suffered another knock and would be out for a couple of games.
"Unfortunately he is injured again. He said to me it’s a problem in the same position as the Champions League. He recovered well, but now we’ve lost him for a time. We have to reflect and talk to the doctors and the physios." Pep told the press.
The match was also a reunion with former City captain and legend Vincent Kompany who is currently the head coach of Burnley. Kompany played for the Citizens for 11seasons and captained the club for 8seasons, winning over 11trophies in 360appearances.
"We had five guys who started for the first time for the club, a player who made his first debut in his career and overall we had chances. I knew it was going to be tough but we have to take the positives from this game. This team is only going to get stronger." This was Kompany after the match.
Rodri sealed off City's win with his goal in the second half and the hosts later suffered a red card to Anass Zaroury who after a reckless challenge to City's defender Klye Walker got sent off in the added minutes of second half.
