At 33 years of age, one would say a player still has a few more years to represent their national team. However this is not the case for now former Uganda Cranes player Hassan Wasswa Mawanda who came out yesterday and announced his retirement from National team football.
Wasswa has been playing as a defensive midfielder and has represented his nation 75 times but has retired without any goal. Wasswa is now concentrating on club football and his Saudi Arabia side Jeddah who play in the Mohammed Bin Salman league.
On the local scene, Wasswa played for Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC and Sports Club Villa. Wasswa's retirement comes just days after cranes failed to qualify for AFCON in a controversial way.
