Kampala High Court judge Henrietta Wolayo yesterday ordered National Unity Platform member Sulaiman Kidandala to avail evidence to show he sent letters of election petition to fellow NUP candidate Muhammad Seggirinya.
Kidandala and Seggirinya both contested for Kawempe North Constituency seat in the January 14th/2021 elections, which saw the later emerge victorious with a mind blowing margin.
Since Seggirinya was announced winner, Kidandala refused to accept the results, claiming that Seggirinya's academic papers were not enough to qualify him for the position and filed a court case to challenge the results. Since courts resumed hearing election petitions, Kidandala and his lawyers presented their case for hearing tomorrow but to their dismay, the judge chased them.
According to Edwin Tabaro, one of the lawyers of the Uganda Electoral Commission, Seggirinya never recieved any letters from Kidandala challenging his victory and Seggirinya is the elected MP of Kawempe North Constituency.
seggirinya and his lawyers didn't turn up for the court hearing and stated they didn't know anything abouut the case. Judge Henrietta postponned the hearing to 2nd/September/
