The highly contested Kampala Mayoral race has finally come to an end and saw the incumbent Lord mayor Erias Lukwago win with a very big margin.
Lukwago who has been contesting under the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and beat 10 other contestants for the city hall seat. Among the contestants were Charles James Ssenkubuge, Daniel Kazibwe(Ragga Dee), Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala, Joseph Mayanja Chameleone among others.
Lukwago was feared to lose the seat to NUP's Candi due to the "political wave" of the Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert led party. This was so evident in the presidential and parliamentary elections on 14th/January/2021 that saw the plarty win almost 95% of the seats in the central region.
Nabilah however came in second position with 60,082 votes. Below is how the five performed.
1st. Erias Lukwago (FDC) 194,592 votes.
2nd. Daniel Kazibwe (NRM) 23,388 votes.
3rd. Joseph Mayanja (IND) 12,212 votes.
4th. Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala (NUP) 6,082 votes.
5th. Charles James Ssenkubuge (DP) 2,355 votes.
Congratulations to the newly elected Kampala mayor from Nowviba. Hard luck to those who've lost.
