Today marked 100 days in office for Nyendo-Mukungwe MP Hon. Mathias Mpuuga since he was appointed as the leader of opposition in the 11th parliament. While addressing journalists, Mpuuga called out the government over the prolonged closure of schools.
"If we're going to vaccinate learners that are 18+ yeears, why don't we have those below that age bracket in school? We had initially gone against the whole idea of closure of schools in the first place but we were not successful." Siad Hon. Mpuuga
According to Mpuuga, schools should be control hubs for both learners and teachers and he wonders why the learners below 18 years are not studying yet they're not going to be vaccinated and their teachers are being vaccinated.
The Education Ministry however sent a delegation to meet with the prime minister and after a long discussion, the delegation is set to meet with the president and among the highly expected issues to be discussed is the opening of schools.
Safe to say we should keep our fingers crossed while we awit information from the ministry.
