Today was the long awaited day for Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya to swear in as a member of parliament.
Many thought he wouldn't make it since he made a phone statement saying he cares for his health more than a position so he would swear in on a different day.
In a speech, he said he has liver problems and the doctors advised he treat it for 8 years.
"I am in pain but I came for the people of Kawempe. They voted me and had to see me swear in." He cried on TV.
He has gone back to Nairobi for further treatment.
Ssegirinya also promised that the 200 million to be given to him to buy a car, he would give it back to the people of Kawempe.
"I feel sad seeing the people of Kawempe hungry and with no capital for business. I will keep my old car and give them that money." He added.
Ssegirinya said even if he is sick, he will still do the work he is supposed to do as a member of parliament.
