As the MPs of the 11th parliament prepare to return to parliament, after their recess period of following up on the Emyooga program elapsed, the head of communications at the parliament Chris Obore has informed the MPs that no one will be allowed to access the chambers unless they're fully vaccinated.
Initially, MPs were having sessions in the parliament's parking, under hired tents which can house over 300 MPs. But according to Obore, the parliament looks to reduce the expenditure because these tents are hired for 8.5m daily.
“We are going to resume using the chamber because we don’t want to keep spending money on tents. All members will have to be vaccinated to attend sittings to avoid infections,” said Chris Obore.
The 11th parliament has 529 MPs and 26 Ex-officials which can't be accomoidated at once in this Corona period. Obore said they're planning to open the chambers for only 100 MPs per session. This has been seen as a good move, given many MPs are known for sleeping off during sessions and this will help single out those who're active and those who're domant.
