Initially held at Namboole stadium, Wakiso district, this year's presidential nominations are to be held at Kyambogo university cricket grounds, given the Namboole had initially been gazetted for treatment of Covid_19 patients. The nominations are slated to run for two days, November 2nd-3rd and by October 13th, 86 people had expressed interest in the seat.
While speaking to New vision on Wednesday, the electoral commission spokesperson, Paul Bukenya said the committee responsible for nominations, National Organising Committee (NOC) will compromise of 35 members headed by Simon Byabakama. Some of the key aspirants include Maj. Gen Mugisha Muntu, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, for National Unity Platform (NUP), Patrick Amuriat for Forum for Democratic Change(FDC) among others.
This comes amidst the resumption of institutions of learning for finalists, among which Kyambogo university is also part. Whether the nominations will disorganize the lectures and concentration of the finalists, we're yet to find out.
