The on scale invasion of Ukraine 22 months ago saw the Russian Federations suffer multitudes of sanctions as President Zelensky pleaded "Make sure the Russians do not get a single penny".This came hand in hand with the depature of several European and American firms from the Baltic state but guess what,Moscow played this to its advantage. 
This the action involved selling off these European firms at very low interests and in most cases involved the direct take over and the ownership transferred to members of Putin's circle.So in the end the average Russian citizen was able to keep accessing products from these companies while the western counterparts suffered losses from undervalued pay.
The result was another loss for Zelensky and his pack of aid suppliers who had relied on crippling the Russians using sanctions but instead they have now gotten themselves to admit that the western sanctions only just proved a thorn in the foot of the giant President Putin.
