Salvador and Muhangi Declare Amooti, King of Ugandan Comedy
    • July 27, 2021 • 4 years ago

Top city comedians, Patrick Salvador Idringi and Alex Muhangi have come out to reveal that their fellow comedian, Amooti Omubalanguzi is the King of Ugandan comedy.

This declaration was first revealed by Salvador who said, despite all the new comedians that have come up in Uganda, Amooti will always be the greatest.

This was shortly after Salvador had watched one of the clips Amooti usually plays and couldn't hide his excitement but hold the gentleman in high esteem.

Alex Muhangi of comedy store also jumped on the bandwagon and praised Amooti for inspiring the current generation of Comedians in the country. This is one of the rare times Alex and Salvador have agreed on something ever since their beef at the end of 2019.

    When did Amooti start comedy

He started comedy in the early 2000s soon after finishing his A level equivalent at Kisubi Technical where he did mechanical engineering.

His first gig was at Little flowers where he acted comedy alongside the likes of Ndausi, Paddy Bitama and Kigere.

Soon afterwards, he formed the Amarula Family comedy group together with Paddy Bitama and has been grooming young talent through the group.

But the group suffered a big blow in early 2014 when co-founder Paddy Bitama died leaving Amooti to manage it alone.

After recovering from the setback, Amooti slowly by slowly kept the Amarula Family afloat till today and he is the brain behind all the comedy skits they play.
