The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Boys' Football tournament came to an end yesterday, 20th/5/2023 at Nyakasura Secondary School playground in Fort Portal District, with St. Mary's SS Kitende emerging victorious over first time finalists St. Henry's College Kitovu.
The match ended 1-0 in favor of Kitende, thanks to Habib Oloya's header that came in the early 20minutes of the first half. Kitende defended resiliently and in numbers in a game which was full of tempo and constant attacking from the Kitovu boys.
Kitende coach, Mr. Male Daniel credited the win to the teamwork and courage displayed by his boys. “I am humbled for the trophy won. It took determination, teamwork and courage from every squad player.” This victory took the school's trophy tally to 12, a landmark only dremnt of by other schools.
Royal Giants High School got 3rd place after beating Amus College - Bukedea 4-2 in the "loosers match." Amus College's Allan Oyirwoth went home with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, while Shamulan Kamya from Royal Giants-Mityana won the Best Goalkeeper award and Abdulnoor Nsereko of St. Mary's Kitende was the topscorr with 11 goals.
