Yesterday though an official statement, the governing body of football in Uganda, FUFA announced the return of Milutin Sredjovic commonly known as Micho.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) said the coach of Serbian origin was reappointed as the headcoach of the Uganda Cranes, the national football team of the country.
This comes after a failed stint with former coach Jonathan McKinstry, a Northern Irishman who was serving as the Cranes Coach since 2019. Jonathan had a win rate of about 67% but the FUFA president, Moses Magogo wasn't satisfied.
Magogo declared Jonathan's performance in the recent 2021 AFCON qualification campaign as shitty and even went ahead to question why the players should be paid after such poor performance.
So with two games left in the 2021 AFCON qualification campaign, Magogo in conjunction with FUFA sacked the Irish coach and had to pay him a whooping US$ 255,000 as compensation.
This is about the same amount of money The new coach, Micho was demanding from FUFA four years ago (2017) when he resigned over non-payment issues.
Micho and the Uganda Cranes
Micho who was once a coach of the Uganda Cranes resigned in 2017 at the time when he had gone 6 months clear without payment of his salary.
After successfully guiding Uganda to the first Africa Cup of Nafions finals in 38 years, that same year in January, the coach called it quits with the national team.
He was apparently demanding FUFA over $64,000 and equivalent of 230 million shillings at that time. This money was in terms of salary and allowances.
However, it is rumoured that the Serbian coach finally received this money while at his new job at Orlando Pirates, a football club in South Africa and probably this is the reason as to why he can comfortably coach Uganda again.
According to the statement still from FUFA, coach Micho will speak to the country on Tuesday next week as he prepares the national team to qualify for world Cup in Qatar 2022.
But what is the real reason behind Micho's return
Regardless of the sweet words our people at FUFA could have told Micho including salary increment which is an obvious lie, there are other reasons why the coach came back for Uganda
First of all, he was sacked mid-july from his former job with the Zambian national team after a dismal performance.
Secondly, Micho loves Uganda, despite the history of nonpayment of his salary, the coach generally loves the atmosphere, fans enthusiasm in our country and he also loves the ladies.
Speaking of ladies, The third reason Micho is in Uganda for is exactly that one.The man is reportedly running away from court cases involving that gender in South Africa.
Some time back, he was accused of sexual assault by two women in South Africa. One of the women was a 51-year old hotel cleaner who accused Micho of wanting to sleep with her in 2019 when he was still head coach at Orlando Pirates in South Africa.
The other woman was a 39-year old stadium personnel who accused Micho of touching her bums hours after he had asked her for sugar from her private parts and this was during his reign as headcoach of Zambia men's national football team.
Naye Micho ?, I hope Ugandan girls can clear his horn such that we go to world Cup in peace.
