As the new academic year 2023 sets to open soon, Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is set to release the Primary Seven leavers results next week.
The development was made by the board's Executive Director, Daniel Odong while he appeared before the Parliamentary Education Committee earlier this week.
According to Odong, both PLE and UCE Examinations were done being marked shortly before the Christmas break and as of now, a few checks are ongoing at their Ntinda headquarters before the results are released consecutively.
During the Parliamentary sitting, Odong and his team were defending their budget framework paper for the 2023-2024 financial year.
The development will also parents pay more money as registration fees for their children in candidate classes - in a bid by the Board to render more quality services.
Odong further explained that the increase is intended to cover rising costs of conducting Examinations occasioned by the cost of living in the country today.
In the move, Uneb has proposed to increase registration fees for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) from Shs34,000 to Shs40,000; Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) from Shs164,000 to at least Shs190,000; and Uganda advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) from Shs186,000 to at least Shs230,000.
