Uganda's women in sports are continuing to raise the national flag on the continental and global stage, regardless of the business as usual stories within the lives of Uganda's Athletes.
The Volleyball Lady Cranes are the recent ladies to grab the attention of sports followers after the successess of the Gazelles in Basketball and the She cranes in netball. The Lady Cranes who are representing the country in the CAVB African Women’s Nations Championship began their spell with a convincing win against South African Lesotho.
Lady Cranes are in group with, with neighbours Rwanda, Kenya, North Africa's Morocco, West Africa's Burkina Faso and Lesotho. The Ladies began the first set with an easy 25-10 win thanks to Joan Tushemereirwe and Catherine Ainembabazi's sporoted efforts.
The second half didn't change a lot as the Lady Cranes continued inflicting damage to a rather downtroden Lesotho team. The third round also came to the favor of Lady Cranes, which they won 25-10 and crowning the entire match with a 3-0 victory.While the first match went in their favor, the Lady Cranes have to get better results from the remaining games to see to it that they finish among the top 4 in the group and qualify for the quarter finals.
