The ministry of Education and sports yesterday announced that all private owned schools are to undedrgo re-registration as a move to help smoothen the education system in the country.
According to George Mutekanga, a commisioner in the Education ministry, the new certificate of registration is to run for a period of 5years, starting from 2021.
Much as the re-registration is not mandatory at the moment, Mr. George says the ministry will finfd ways of getting the private schools planning to boycot the practice.
However, the private schools owners have blamed the ministry for concetrating on a less important issue at the moment yet a more burning issue is at stake.
Khalib Nyonjo, a private school owner said the registration comes at a point where them(rivate schools owners) are battling bank loans and they'll not pay attention to the registration. He advised the ministry to focus on finding ways of re-opening schools instead of pressuring them to re-register.
