The Ministry of Education and Sports has announced that every student in any class is automatically promoted to the next class.
Students of P. 3 are now in P.4, S.2 learners are now in S.3, Ministry spokesperson, Dennis Mugimba revealed, while appearing on NBS Morning Breeze today.
The Ministry mouthpiece assured kindergarten learners that they will be able to join P.1 if they are exactly six years old.
"Every learner will move to the next class. We are not planning on a dead year, the P1s will move to P2, the P2s will move to P3. Children of 6 years will join P1,” Mugimba said.
Mugimba called for calm saying that there will not be a dead year. He explained that there is no cause for alarm since the Ministry has a roadmap already.
“The roadmap is a living document, we had planned to open in October. Depending on the President’s address tonight, we shall tweak the roadmap and roll it out,” Mugimba said.
This is after disappointed critics questioned the prolonged closure of schools yet learners are growing.
However, Museveni's last address put a condition on school re opening, stressing that all students and learners must fish be vaccinated before schools resume.
A number of teachers and University students are however already vaccinated as they await the Presidential address, tonight.
