There was a shocking cabinet reshuffle in the National Unity Platform last week on Friday where many NUP Leaders lost their positions. The President, Bobi Wine was one of the major people who lost his position in NUP, being turned into the General Secretary of the pressure group. Joel Senyonyi, the spokesperson also lost his position as well as Rubogonya the General Secretary.
On Friday, Kibalama and his group held an ‘NUP Delegates Conference’ in which they fired Bobi Wine and his entire Kamwokya-based group for reportedly failing to offer leadership and for flouting terms of a memorandum of understanding under which the People Power pressure group acquired NUP.
Besides Bobi Wine, other leaders fired from NUP David Lewis Rubongoya, Spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi have refused to quit or hand over office to the Kibalama group whom they referred to as ‘crooks’ who are reportedly impersonating and masquerading as NUP leaders. All the leaders that were told to quit have allegedly refused to leave their offices, claiming that the end of their term has not reached yet.
They also noted that the NUP Constitution requires them to convene a Delegates Conference at least once every five years to elect leaders, and that once elected, those leaders hold office for five years. Bobi Wine therefore mentioned that there was no such thing as a delegates meeting since the fiver year term is still valid.
Bobi Wine vows never to leave his office and mentions to the public not to give an ear to all the words Kibalama says.
