The swearing in of the 529 MPs was concluded yesterday and musician turned politician Geoffrey Lutaaya swore in too.
Hon.Lutaaya will represent the people of Kakuuto county in the 12th parliament of Uganda. (2021-2026)
During an interview, he was asked what he will do for the people who voted him into power.
"I will make sure laws that support them are implemented by the government." He said.
His wife Irene backed him up by saying he is the sort of man that makes good plans ahead and will therefore do good for the people.
When asked about bribes, Hon. Lutaaya said he can never take bribes.
"I might have 150,000 and someone tries to bribe me with money. Even if I am seeing the 5m cash, I cannot allow it. I am happy with the little I have." He commented.
"My husband can never receive a bribe. I have been married to him for more than ten years and money can never move him." Irene backed him up.
Hon. Lutaaya swore in yesterday and was escorted by his very jubilant wife and daughter for moral support.
He went back to school last year and did exams so that he would have the required papers to enable him contest for a political post.
He didn't contest in his home area Makindye West because another popular NUP member Allan Ssewanyana was contesting in the same place.
"NUP members, we support each other and not pull ourselves down. Allan was an MP of the same area before so I let him have it." Lutaaya mentioned.
Many have been speculating about his English and how he will participate in the parliamentary debates but he assured people that his English is extremely good and should not be anyone's worry.
