Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold has congratulated Ugandan musician Azawi real names Priscilla Zawedde for the successful concert she staged yesterday.
With more than a week after his also successful concert at Lugogo Cricket oval, Adekunle was quick to congratulate the female singer after seeing how fans were chanting her name when she stepped on stage yesterday.
Popular Nigerian Deejay, DJ Neptune also congratulated Azawi and this makes it the first time Nigerian bigwigs have closely followed a local concert which means that our music industry is gradually penetrating the international scene.
At yesterday's concert, huge crowds were noted in attendance and the show was not a flop like many people had started to anticipate.
At about 7pm, Galaxy FM, a local radio station released pictures from the venue at Lugogo Zoe grounds that showed us the infamous "butebbe" meaning empty chairs. These are always a bad sight to see for any artiste who has organised a concert and incase you're in doubt, ask Big Eye, Mun G and Fik Fameica who have all experienced massively flopped concerts.
Azawi's panic
For the last 2 weeks, her team has been panicking to get the show together and our viba sources indicate that Swangz Avenue, her label and concert organiser was busy dishing out large paychecks to media houses, twitter influencers and other channels all in vain to promote the concert.
Something that we rarely see, fellow Ugandan musicians posted Azawi's posters on their pages such as Sheebah, Kenzo, Lydia Jazmine, Fik Fameica and this is how we concluded that Swangz Avenue was pushing too hard to make people aware of the upcoming concert.
Not forgetting the strong brands behind the concert such as Guinness, Sprite and Next Media that put in a lot of money to promote the event all over town.
However, we are also reliably informed that Azawi's team served out free tickets to a couple of fans both online and physically. The team together with Azawi moved all the way to downtown and served tickets to some lucky fans in a last minute drive to pull crowds for the concert.
Nonetheless, the concert was a successful one after attracting thousands of revellers yesterday night who enjoyed performances from the likes of Fik Fameica, A Pass, Winnie Nwagi, Grenade and Martha Mukisa among others. Fireworks were also shot up in the sky shortly before Azawi stepped on stage to give fans the value for their money.
