Following the Taliban truiimph which saw the collapse of President Ashraph Ghani's government in Afghanistan, the US embarked on an evacuation of civilians seeking asylum.
On request of US President, Joe Biden, Uganda agreed to host about 2, 000 Afghanistan refugees untill the situation in Afghanistan improves.
The first batch of the refugees, who total 51 including men, women and children arrived today, Government spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo announced.
He further disclosed that they will be quarantined for two weeks in several Entebbe hotels before being transferred to ayet to be disclosed location.
"We have received the first batch of Afghan refugees today morning. The are about 51 people, children female and makes. They will be tested for COVID-19 and isolated after two weeks, they will be placed in Enttebbe hotels " Ofwono's press release reads.

The group arrived today, at 6:00 am aboard a privately chattered plane and was recieved by Ministry of foreign affairs officials and US Mission officials.
