Uganda is indeed the Pearl of Africa. Ahead of the elections for the Uganda Musician's Association, it has been brought to the attention of the outgoing cabinet to change the node of election to be followed by artists as they choose their new leaders.
The one and only Khalifa Aganaga has expressed interest in the vice presidency as he has come out to contest for this particular position. Apparently, he has already started his work as a voice for the voiceless where he has come out to urge the outgoing cabinet not to organize online voting but rather practice a secret ballot.
According to Aganaga, the musicians are too poor to afford data that they could use for the online elections. He mentioned that some musicians were even struggling to feed their families so they couldn't afford the luxury of buying data.
Many of the musicians especially the young ones are broke, some don’t even have data. If they organise electronic elections, many will be left out. We need a secret ballot exercise in the region,” he said.
Aganaga is standing for vice presidency and according to his manifesto, he believes he is the best person for the job and calls upon fellow musicians to trust in him and give him a chance to prove his worth.
As a talented singer, songwriter, producer. I feel I am the right person to be the Vice-President of the Uganda Musicians' Association (UMA). I am ambitious and driven. I thrive on challenges and constantly set goals for myself. I am not comfortable with settling and I’m always looking for an opportunity to do better and achieve greatness. I have a strong desire and determination to succeed. I am a natural leader. I’ve eventually been promoted to a leadership role in every job because I like people,” he stated.
