* Alexander Lukashenko signed a law that made him immune from any charges when he is no longer president.
* The law also stops exiled political leaders from politcal participation.
* The president has been at the helm of Belarus power for almost 30 years.
Lukashenko signed a law that barred exiled opposition leaders from running in any further future presidential elections as well as granting him immunity from any criminal charges. The law applies to former presidents and their familiess but in reality only applies to President Lukashenko who has been ruling Russia for 30 years with an iron fist. Lukashenko, 69 has shoved the country's law into prevention of future political oppnents in the due elections that are scheduled to tek plac next year.
The law is aimed at maintaining the incumbent in power as the electoral process is so hard for individuals to undergo. No former opposition leader who has once fled he country is eligible to stand, only permanent citizens of the country without residential permits and have lived in the country for more than 20 years are also eligible to vote. Belarus was rocked with a series of protests after President Lukashenko was re-elected for a 6th in a vote the West described as fraudulent. Lukanshenko is also being accused of exporting children from Russia occupied areas in Ukraine to Belarus amid also holding hostage to over 35000 people due to electoral protests.
Furthermore, the law signed by Lukashenko ensures long life support to the president and his family in the aspects of health, medical care and protection. The law also ensures that the president is free from prosecution when he resigns and a permanent member of the upper house. However major opposition leader Sviatslana said the dictator must be brought to book and only enacted the law because he is afraid of what may happen to him in the event that he fails in the next ballot. However the Putin stronghold cannot be defeated due to the force that Putin has in influencing the leaderships of his satellite states.
