The Uganda Women's National Team, She Cranes knocked out hosts She-Amavubi stars of Rwanda to advance to the next round of the Olympics Football Tournament which is set to take place in Paris-France in 2024. The highly contested match was played in the Kigali Pele stadium on Sunday, 16th/7/2023.

While both games were played on Rwandan soil, this didn't stop the Crested Cranes from coming up as eventual winners. First leg ended in a 3-3 draw, which set up the second leg to be an exhilarating encounter and for that it was.

The game had its fair share of tense moments during the 90minutes, with both teams putting up quite the moments. However, these didn't really yield much since the game went into extra time.  It was not until the 100th minute of the game when substitute Fazila Ikwaput fired the Crested Cranes into the lead and set the stadium ablaze.

The match was graced by Uganda's prime minister Rt. Hon. Robina Nabbanja, who kept on cheering the young ladies throught the match. Hon. Nabbanja appreciated the girls for a very spirited performance and promised them support from the government.

"You are a very poweful team. I have been following every step, you are so powerful that you can even take the world cup." said the prime minister. She ended her speech by giving out USD 200 to each of the 24 players and this saw the players go crazy.

After the She-Amavubi win, the Crested Cranes will now wait to play against Cameroon in October in the next round.
