While making a presentation at the State of the nation debate on whether Uganda needs transition or succession organised by the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) at JEEMA Offices in Kampala, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago mentioned that he is disappointed with a general like Muhoozi Kainerugaba and his recent code of conduct.
He mentioned that all the recent actions of the First son point to one thing, succession. According to Lukwago, Muhoozi Kainerugaba is being prepared to take over the throne from the current President, his father, something that Uganda s should never allow to happen.
"They are driving a new agenda, their agenda for succession or to push for succession. This is now the new phenomenon we have. The new dimension of the entrenchment of a personal rule, new entrenchment of dictatorship in this country. We need to pull up our socks,” said Lukwago
Erias Lukwago clearly stated that every opposition member needed to unite against such an abomination, mentioning that the situation calls for every person to retaliate against the state if there is to remain any bit of freedom without the planned dictatorship of the state. He repeatedly called General Muhoozi reckless and said the state should never be left in the hands of such a reckless man.
"It is the people against the state, that is the fight. The state which has been hijacked. The state which is in the hands of individuals. Now is that same state machinery, they are now putting in the hands of this reckless Gen Muhoozi, very reckless. I have never seen a very reckless four-star Gen like Muhoozi. Extremely reckless,” he said.
Erias Lukwago said that Muhoozi had nothing to show his worth or credibility simply because he owned nothing apart from the name 'first son' which links him to the President of Uganda. Other than that, he is clearly nothing.
“Apart from the gun and the birthday certificate reading that Museveni is his father, what else does he have to show that he is qualified to be in charge of state affairs?” he queried
