Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party chairman ambassador Waswa Birigwa yesterday informed the media that Kira Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Ssemujju Nganda had been endorsed by the party to be the flag bearer in the coming speakership election.
Birigwa said the decision was reached by the party's top organs, working committee, parliamentary caucus and National Executive Council (NEC) of FDC. "We agreed to front Hon. Ssemujju Nganda and Hon. Nsibambi Yusuf to contest for positions of speaker and deputy speaker respectively." Said the party chairman while addressing the media.
FDC now becomes the only party to publivly announce its representatives in the elections, as the other parties are yet to announce their candidates. National Unity Platform (NUP) who just concluded their two day retreat just announced a committee to spearhead the selection.
National Resistance Movement (NRM) I yet to decide on who to choose. So far three party members have shown interest and these are Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, Hon. Jacob Oulanyah who're the current speaker and deputy speaker respectively and Rakai woman MP Juliet Kinyamatama.
Democratic party also has Hon. Richard Ssebamala also vying for the seat. The election is really going to be an interesting one.
