Yesterday, muslims across the globe celebrated Eid Adhuha, also known as the Eid for slaughtering animals, in commemoration of the prophet Ibrahim who showed his faith to God (Allah) by accepting to sacrifice his son Isaac (Ishaq).
The three day festivities are known to have people get together, eat, drink and have fun. Unfortunately this didn't happen, due to the presence of Covid-19 and the country being in a second total lockdown. This didn't stop muslims from observing the celebration, though social distance was a must.
While giving his speech at Old Kampala mosque, the Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje lashed out towards the government over the move to provide relief aid to vulnerable Ugandans, saying the activity has been poorly handled.
The Mufti said instead of sending money to people as it's being done, the covid-19 taskforce had to instead give out food, like it was during the first lockdown. He went on to say that on top of the money approach being filled with data alterations, it has been very slow and very few have actually recieved the money.
He advised the government to always be prepared and keen on such projects because in the end, the people who truly deserve to recieve the aid end up missing out. What do you have to say about the Mufti's words?
