The minister of Finance Hon. Matia Kasaija has today tabled a new bill that suggests internet will be taxed.
He also suggested that OTT would be removed in the new laws.
12% charge will be placed on each internet bundle one purchases.
For internet companies, this means that prices will have increase on data bundles for them to compensate for the taxes that will be charged.
Many Ugandans are now frustrated because everything is now to be taxed.
In February, the government wanted to tax withdraws on money gotten from bank ATMs.
Many Ugandans complained about it and the government denied trying to bring this as a new tax.
It seems the government needs the money and will go through everything to tax anything that Ugandans seem to spend the most money on.
