Former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Masinde Onyango, who is currently playing for South African Based Club Mamelodi Sundowns recently came out and declared how he still wants to continue playing for the club.
The 38year old has been a strong force in the past years for Mamelodi, with his shotstopping heroics seeing him become the most decorated player in the South African league, with 10 championships. Onyango has won 7 of these with Mamelodi and 3 with his former club Super Sport.
Regardless of his experience in goal, the former African Player of the year had not been getting enough playing time since the club brought in Ronwen Williams, who like Onyango was also bought from Super Sport United.
“I think the club also relies on my experience and leadership that I try to bring in the changing room, and we shall see what the club is thinking of me, but I also have to listen to my body. I have seen players playing until they were 40 or 42, so yeah, the body still allows me to play a little bit longer.” Said Onyango during a recent interview.
Onyango featured in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday last week with Maritzburg United, which saw Sundowns lift their 6th consecutive league title.
