Anti corruption court in Kampala on Wednesday denied bail to Karamoja Affairs Minister, Dr. Mary Goretti Kituttu over lack of substantial sureties!
Citing insufficient time to review the lengthy bail urgements, presiding magistrate Ms Marion Aciro stood over the matter even when Kitutu's lawyers listed ill health, advanced age and having a Permanent residence within the jurisdiction of court in Bunga among other grounds for her bail release.
Her husband, George Kitutu together with other two sureties failed to show proof of financial capacity to stand surety in a case of a kind - like hers!
Kitutu's case was further adjourned to Friday this week when the sureties in question are expected to present their credentials for court to rule on her bail grant.
Kitutu has for over the past two months been at the centre of controversy of allegedly diverting iron sheets meant for the vulnerable people in Karamoja.
She was last week sent to Luzira prison on two accounts - loss of public property and one count of conspiracy to defraud.
