King Saha ran and called off the elections as they were on their due date, claiming that there were signs of malpractice and vote rigging. With his group of lawyers, he made sure that the date for the elections was pushed farther until further notice. The elections were then called off in July by the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development for various reasons including King Saha's complaint and a new date is yet to be set.
Recently, early this week, a press conference was held by the entire Uganda Musician's Association where it was mentioned by the incumbent UMA President herself that she was to keep on being the president for the mean time . During the press conference, Cindy said the association stakeholders agreed at a meeting that the office can’t stay closed because the new date for the elections has not yet been set.
“We have work to do as an association so we can’t continue without anyone in the office. We had handed it over to the UMA electoral commission, but this has since changed until further notice,” Cindy declared.
She went ahead t mention that her entire cabinet has not changed and they will continue to serve alongside her as they wait upon the setting of a date for the Association Presidency.
King Saha is however rubbing teary eyes as he claims that this is such an unfair thing to do and he believes Cindy is only trying ro cling onto power, not wanting to let fresh blood take over the UMA Presidency. He has gone ahead to protest the move saying that what Cindy and her group are doing is wrong. He mentioned that the Association is not going to sit around but the public should watch and see what they do next as an Association.
“Wait and see what we are going to do. We are going to protest big time,” he said.
