During his speech at the recently concluded Science, Technology and Innovation exhibition at Kololo independence grounds, President Yoweri Museveni spent close to 10 minutes talking about the Dr. Musenero - Covid_19 money saga. The president who seemed pretty upset warned all plotting to 'blackmail' the minister to back off or they're to face it rough from him.
Referring to the United States America’s law which makes it an offence to attack decorated war generals, the president noted that Musenero is among the scientists that have contributed greatly to the nation citing her role in the fight against Ebola and Covid-19 pandemics.
"Americans have a law which makes it an offense to attack a decorated officer of the United States Army. Now I saw some people attacking Musenero, then I said that do these people know that Musenero is a decorated person? Because I came to know Musenero from gwaniro [field]. The way I came to know Musenero, there had been Ebola - I think it had invaded Kagadi and it was frightening, people were dying but I heard that our people had controlled it. So I asked...Dr [Sam] Zaramba in the ministry of Health and I said; who are the people who helped with this Ebola, he said; 'there is a young girl, she is not a medical but she a vet she was on the frontline.' Then I said; 'you take this girl and she works in the ministry of Health.' He [Zaramba] refused, refused, refused to take her...imagine a commander tells you to do something and you refuse, I wish you luck," said Museveni.

However, the 'decorated' scientist has of late been trending for not so good reasons, as she has been linked to alleged corruption and embezzlement of Shs 31 billion Covid-19 funds, with whistleblowers petitioning the Inspector General of Government (IGG) to investigate her. But, before the IGG could take action, Ntungamo Municipality MP Yona Musinguzi took the matter before parliament. And deputy speaker Anita Among promptly appointed a select committee to probe the matter.
Musinguzi, who until recently was assistant commissioner in the ministry of Science, tabled before parliament documentary evidence seeking to implicate Musenero regarding the utilization of funds meant to facilitate the Covid-19 vaccine development under the Presidential Scientific Initiative on Epidemics (PRESIDE).
According to Musinguzi, funds under the PRESIDE programme were channeled to different individual scientists who have allegedly denied receiving the funds. Based on the allegation, deputy speaker Among decided to form a select committee to probe the matter. Well, it looks like Musenero is about to bounce back and re-echo the famous "we have the maje" chant.
