A survey was carried out on and off social media by the MTN company so as to know if it's customers were happy with the services they provided.
Many customers during the survey complained of how expensive it is to withdraw money off MTN mobile money.
One user on Twitter also complained on how she was charged 60,000 Uganda shillings while trying to withdraw 850,000 Uganda shillings
"That is a lot of my money you are charging and taking away from my mobile money wallet." She tweeted.
MTN took these complaints seriously and today, Monday 3rd May 2021, they have cut on the mobile money charges and will start offering the lowest prices while withdrawing or sending on MTN.
Stephen Mutana, the General Manager of Mobile Financial services department in the MTN company made this new announcement at Hotel Africana Katonga Hall.
Customers will also be given free Senkyu points everytime they use the service.
"Any deposits of 5,000 shillings and above will award a customer one Senkyu point while any charges of 100 shillings and above when sending or withdrawing money on MTN will earn them two Senkyu points." Stephen mentioned at the press conference in Katonga Hall.
The above mentioned Senkyu points can be used by MTN customers to buy data, SMS or voice minutes.
MTN says they are doing this to enable Ugandans who carry out businesses using MTN Momo to have enough cash with them and ease their business dealings.
