If you are an ardent social media user, you must have come across a video of a lecturer slapping a student in class.
It was later learnt that this happened at Makerere University and the lecturer in question is identified as Benard Wandera from the school of social sciences at the oldest University in the land.
Fresh details indicate that, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, the University's Vice Chancellor ordered the lecturer to leave office in a bid to allow investigations by a special committee into his code of conduct to take shape.
"I hereby interdict you from the University in order to protect the reputation of the university, its students, and in order not to jeopardize the on-going investigations", Nawangwe's letter to Wandera read in bit.
It further added that the lecturer will be invited to participate in the proceedings of the investigations and during this period. he will receive half pay and will not be allowed to access his office and any other University premise.
The video reportedly recorded on Friday was recorded by one of the students in the same class and later went viral on the internet.
In there, Wandera lost his cool during a lecture in CTF 1 teaching facility at the might University and slapped a female student while ordering her to vacate his class, a manner netizens were against.

Wandera's fate will soon be determined by the University Appointments Board upon completion of the investigation.
