Makerere University has requested the Ministry of Finance for 1 billion Uganda shillings to pay it's lecturers that it had suspended due to improper conduct at the university.
According to records, some of the suspended lecturers owe the university 121 million Uganda shillings each.
The secretary to the university tribunal wrote to the ministry asking the ministry to add them in the national budget of 2021/2022.
Some of these suspended lecturers have been reinstated on their jobs as their cases were dismissed due to lack of evidence and will be paid full salaries.
