Its now a fortnight since legislators Allan Ssewanyana and Muhammad Ssegirinya of Makindye West and Kawempe North Constituencies were released from prison following a bail grant.
However, the development was a stone thrown into the bees because since then, allegations of back door negotiations between some opposition leaders and government officials that saw the release of the two MPs.
Although, NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi together with the Opposition leader in Parliament Hon. Mathias Mpuuga refuted the claims, one of their own Hon. Abed Bwanika continues to pin top members of the alleged negotiations.
According to Bwanika, some opposition politicians oppose negotiations with the government, yet they have always benefited from such talks. Bwanika claimed that the “medical tourism” of Nambooze in the U.S. and Malende in Kenya involved negotiations with top government officials.
In the same vein, Democratic Party (DP) president Nobert Mao has also vowed to join Bwanika in exposing the Opposition leaders who pretend to be against the said negotiations with the NRM ruling government!
According to Mao, who also doubles as the Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister - he influenced th Bail process that saw the release of the 2 legislators.
He added that he did so for their families and not the political reasons.
“I was worried about the families that did not have a breadwinner; even their relatives came and asked for help to release their people,” he said.
Mao added saying that a couple of Opposition politicians meet government officials but publicly shy away from the act, "Soon I will be exposing them" he said!
