Yesterday a video of singer Ronald Mayinja was released while he was taking a sip of weed during one of NRM's rallys.
The muzeyi hit maker, which is also the official campaign song for Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has today come out to defend himself and claimed that he didn't smoke out of interest but rather to lure the weed smokers into voting for his candidate.
"When we were being taught at Makerere, we were told that if one wanted to win a group of people's hearts, one had to behave like them. So when we reached the group of smokers, at first they thought we had gone to arrest them and seemed uncomfortable.
However, I approached their leader who was smoking and asked for a sip which he accepted. So by doing this act, I was winning their trust and from there we had a healthy talk." Said Mayinja.
He further stated that most of the smokers are music makers and have a lot of requests to the president, among which include setting up a studio for them.
Given the fire Mayinja was under, let's hope this reason helps him escape furious Ugandans.
