Minister bans serving of relief food by Members of parliament
    • July 19, 2021 • 4 years ago

Less than a day after Mityana municipality MP Hon. Zzake Francis gave out relief food to people in his Constituency, the minister of ICT Hon Chris Baryomunsi has come out to warn MPs against the act of giving out relief food.

"It has come to our attention that both Opposition and NRM MPs are giving out relief food to their voters. This action leads to people converging, thus putting them at risk of contracting Covid-19.

We urge the Maps to desist from the action. The who wish to give back to the vulnerable, they should take the relief packages to the covid-19 national task force." Said Hon Baryomunsi. This angered the MPs and Ugandans, given that last year, most of the donated stuff didn't actually reach the vulnerable Ugandans.

The minister also added that if this fails, the well wishers should instead send money, just like the prime minister Hon Robbinah Nabbanja has done, to reduce risks of getting Covid-19.

What do you think about the minister's move? Is it really fair or it's another political move?
