President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has come out to express concern over people charged with murder asking for and being given bail. In his tweet, the fountain of honor seemed disturbed about the whole move.
"For somebody to kill a person and you give them bail is a provocation. It is abominable. I would like us to cure this ideological disagreement. This bail, what is the hurry? Who are you trying to please?" reads part of the tweet.
He went on to promise that he's going to move a motion with the NRM caucus aqnd the act be discussed and voted for lest people start commiting reckless murders in the hope of being granted bail.
"We are going to work on this. I am going to summon the NRM caucus and if necessary, we put it to a referendum. With this provocation, people will take the law into their hands."
This comes at a time where many people being accused of murder get bailed out by paying a certain fee. The recent happens to be NUP members Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana who were granted bail over the case of involving in the Masaka killings. The two however are yet to be spotted, as the later was re-arrested while leaving Kigo prison few days back.
