Uganda's national carrier, Uganda Airlines has said in a statement seen by viba reporters that it will be bringing a couple of Ugandans back home this coming week on Thursday.
The Airlines said that it will be operating a repatriation charter flight for Ugandans in South Africa via Johannesburg on the 25th of June.
This comes after weeks of unrest from stranded Ugandans abroad, about 2300 in number who requested the government time and again to step in and rescue them from foreign soil just like other countries did for their citizens.
One would think the Ugandans are looking for better life in Uganda yet they are in better countries but the thing is most of them lost their jobs and staying abroad has become very hard for them due to high costs of living.
The first repatriation flight was meant to arrive on the 13th of June as earlier communicated by the Ministry of Health but due to air travel procedures, the flight was shifted to another date.
This first flight is said to have supposed to come from Qatar where a group of Ugandans who wanted to come home were told to register and book the chartered flight.
However the sad news is that, the stranded Ugandans who are coming back will have to meet all their expenses including purchase of air tickets and paying for their own accommodation at the quarantine facilities in Uganda where they will be isolated for 14 days after arrival.
