The internet was awash with information about the apparent arrest of blogger Fred Lumbuye in Turkey. Lumbuye had made a name mainly on Facebook through releasing "confidential" information about the ruling party.
He is responsible for prior announcing the death of prominent leaders in the land, from politicians, religious leaders to public figures. He is also known for having announced the death of the Kabaka of Buganda, His royal Highness Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II but he later turned out to be alive.
While talking to journalists, Uganda Police representative alex Twine said Lumbuye has over 40 cases with the police that are awaiting him. "Every false information he released, that was a case. We're not yet certain about his arrest but if it's true, we're very happy because we've been looking for him since 2018." said Twine.
On the other hand, the opposition team has also come out in defence of Lumbuye, who is an adent supporter of NUP. Kyadondo East MP and the minister of external affairs on the shadow cabinet Nkunnyingi Muwada said they're willing to fight for Lumbuye's freedom.
"We'll fight for his rights. There's a team of lawyers I'm working with to see to it that he is not deported back to Uganda but rather remains where he is because he has a right to choose his country of residence." Said Muwada.
While we await for the deportation of Fred Lumnuye, what's that one story you vividly remember from him?
