    * Sunak appears to have bought the idea of holding elections early after being called a Downing street squatter.

    *  Sunak succeded Liz Truss after the latter was forced to resign from office in 2021

    * The U.K elections to be held apparently after local elections are concluded.

Working on an assumption,  Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says he may hold elections in the second half of  the year. There has been speculation that he may hold one in May when the country is through with the local elections. This comes after the Labour leader accused him of being a squatter in the Downing street yet the people want change of office as aired out by Sir Keir Starmner saying that both the country and the Labour party were ready for an election. Similarly, Liberal democrat leader Sir Ed Davey also called Sunak a squatter, holed up in the downing street, clinging unto power instead of facing the verdict of the British people because Sunak had bottled up a verdict to hold the elections in May.

The early days of the year have been filled with speculation but all that was brought to an end after Sunak said he was considering holding the elections in May yet the legally accepted time they would be held was 28th January 2025. The opposition was talking of the May poll so that if the Prime Minister decided to wait, they would  accuse him of cowardice and being scared. Sunak and his team acknowledged that this would not be a risk they would want to take but had alot to do so they needed to handle every matter that arose up.

Rishi Sunak now looks up to the new year to give the Britons a better life after the past 12 months of 2023 not being the easiest for any of them. The country was still recovering from effects of the covid pandemic then the war in Ukraine and most recently the Gaza strip conflict. The prime minister has launched "project hope that aims at rehabilitating the country and has already kick started with the cut in domestic taxes and an increase on the insurance policy. Britain now joins the appendix of countries that are set to hold elections in 2024 kick starting with Taiwan in January, Russia in March India in September and finally the U.S in November.
