The archbishop of the church of Uganda, Rt. Rev Steven Kazimba Mugalu has come out to question the usage of social media platforms by Ugandans. According to the Archbishop, these platforms are being used wrongly yet they're a gift to us.
"Stop using these platforms for wrong reasons. We're supposed to use them to pass on information and harmoniously engage, not passing false information. There people using the platforms to announce death of important people who're actually still alive. Is that really Godly?" Said the Archbishop.
This comes at a time when continued announcing of the death of the president, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This prompted the president himself to order security officials to arrest whoever is found spreading these lies.
At the moment, over 5 people have been arrested and are assumed to be behind the false news announcing the death of the president.
