Recently, MTN gifted musicians with cash prizes as a form of appreciation for their music because their music was often downloaded as caller tunes by MTN service users. Many musicians recieved this appreciation among who were Like Fameica, Pallaso and Chosen Becky.
Singer Chosen Becky is not happy after MTN awarded her with the Best Kadongo Kamu song in the MTN caller tune awards. This came as a huge blow to her considering that the genre of music she sings is Afro beats. This however did not deter her from taking the 2.5 Million shillings cash prize home with her. She clearly had no problem with the money.
Becky says she doesn’t do Kadongo Kamu music but rather Afrobeat. She, however, took home the award and thanked the organizers and her fans for considering her. The song that helped her win the award is titled "Nesimye'. The writer of the song, John K said the song had been categorized as Kadongo Kamu or band to make it easily relatable to people.
What is making fans complain however is that when she was given the cheque, she did not complain but instead went ahead to pose for pictures with a huge smile on her face as if she had not seen the music category she was being awarded for.
