The artist is facing a critical kidney condition and needs a huge amount of money to have a transplant and this show is one of the campaigns through which her and the team are collecting funds to facilitate her transplant. It should be recalled, last month Evelyne held a car wash fundraiser for the same cause and successfully collected over Ugx. 60Million with strong support from fellow celebrities.
This was less by close to Ugx. 190Million from the required amount to foot her entire kidney transplant budget. The ‘Mbulila’ singer with aid of her Zubair Family colleagues initiated the idea of staging some charity concerts that would raise the lagging amount to save her life.
It was at this point that they wrote to the government seeking permission to have the concerts and finally, their application has turned out to be positive. The government has officially cleared over three of Evelyne Lagu’s charity concerts whilst adhering to the Ministry of Health’s Standard of Operation Procedures in curbing COVID-I9.
An extra concert has also been aligned on 28th March – PTC Mitanda, Bulenga. This will be the first time Ugandan entertainers return on stage after a year under concert lockdown.
