Popular Ugandan blogger, Kajubi Fred Lumbuye has been arrested in Turkey where he has been living for a while.
The blogger who on several times was spreading falsehoods about the ruling government was tracked down by Turkish security forces in conjunction with Uganda's security forces.
The arrest at first started as a rumour that Lumbuye had been kidnapped by unknown men in Turkey but foreign affairs minister, Sam Okello Oryem later confirmed Lumbuye's arrest by confirming that blogger had indeed been arrested and that he is not above the law.
This comes almost a month after president Museveni lashed out at people who according to him, had become a problem on social media. The president directed the police there and then to locate them and make them pay for their crime of spreading falsehoods.
What falsehoods did they spread
The president of Uganda was announced dead for the first time on social media last month by these same social media people and this is where the whole thing started.
There was a claim that his excellency had been flown to Nairobi and later taken to Germany in a very bad state relating to Covid-19 complications.
But after a few days (like a week) the president attended a virtual health summit at Makerere University and then also spoke to the public days later during the swearing in of ministers where he ordered Uganda's security forces to track down people that were announcing him dead.

How the security forces responded
Within 48 hours, the Uganda Police had already located some of the culprits, starting with Jamilu Ssekyondwa, 22 from Luweero who was accused of having started the whole Museveni death rumour on facebook.
After the first arrest, the police through its Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) also announced a list of the most wanted social media bloggers in connection to the false spread of news about the president's death.
Charles Mansio, the CID spokesperson in particular mentioned names like Fred Lumbuye, Wisdom Kaye and other popular bloggers based in Uganda and abroad.
On the issue of Lumbuye, Charles said the blogger had made it a constant habit to spread false information on social media claiming that he has first hand info about Museveni's evil intentions.
But originally, Museveni had said the targeted bloggers abroad would be denounced but later, plans changed and they are now up for arrest and extradition to Uganda.
