With less than three weeks to 20th, February 2021, which was the slated day for the biggest music celebration event on the continent, the organizers have a few hours ago come out to postpone the event.
"MTV Base is postponing the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards. We will keep fans updated in more news." This is the tweet shared on the official Twitter account of the MAMAs.
The MTV Music Awards (MAMA) we're to be hosted in Kampala, Uganda in a virtual form due to Covid-19.
However, mixed reactions befell the awards since it was announced the pearl of Africa was going to host last year, amidst the election fever.
Different Ugandans on social media especially Twitter, started posting photos showcasing brutalities and violation of human rights happening in Uganda and warned the organizers of having the event in the land.
The most viral one was when American DJ and producer Dj Khaled, who had been announced as the official host tweeted about how he was excited to host the event. He'll break lose as people warned, abused, cautioned the "we the best music" Dj about thinking twice.
Guess what? The man deleted his tweet and since then, he had been silent about the whole thing. The postponing of the event leaves unanswered questions but to the side of #UgandaIsBleeding, their in high jubilations.
