Today the 13th of July marks 25 days since the country was sent into a second total lockdown of 42 days by the president, as a result of increased covid-19 cases mainly in the urban centers of Kampala metropolitan, Jinja, Gulu, Masaka and others.
By the time the lockdown was announced, the country was registering 1000+ positive cases on a daily and the death rate was also shockingly rising. Since then, cases have been dropping and as of now, the infection rate has gone from 80% to 10%.
This has prompted the minister of ICT, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi to come out and update the country on the progress of the covid-19 fight. In his speech, minister Baryomunsi thanked Ugandans who've been cooperative and helped in making the fight easier.
He also talked about meeting with the cabinet and discuss about the future of post lockdown and among the key things to discuss about are the measures of easing the lockdown.
He however cautioned Ugandans to maintain following SOPs because it's not only the drop in the cases that'll guaranteed the easing of the lockdown but also how people are adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
So, while we wait for the 'Nabbanja' money, let's continue observing SOPs, who knows we might go back to normal after the 42 days.
