Over the years in Uganda, many awards organizers have been offering accolades or trophies to winners of various categories in their respective organized awards.
With this background, Songstress Spice Diana wants to change this narrative and has come out to urge these organizers to to start rewarding winners with money on top of the accolades. Spice Diana, real name Hajjara Namukwaya put out this concern last week during the MTN CallerTunez Awards at the Kampala Serena Hotel. While picking her award that was accompanied by a pay cheque at the ceremony, Diana said that she wishes all awards were accompanied by money.
“We invest alot in the Music, When we get returns like this, it feels good. I wish all awards were like this” she said. At the end of 2021, the same singer had a sensitive run in with the organisers or Janzi Awards and qt the end, she asked to not be nominated in any awards unless she has been consulted prior. We are yet to confirm whether she was requested by MTN for their nomination or she went off her owm words!
